Punjab Police on Sunday conducted 634 raids at identified locations linked to associates of gangsters across the state as the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign entered its 236th day.
The campaign, launched by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, is aimed at making Punjab a gangster-free state. Police teams from districts across the state are conducting coordinated operations in collaboration with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF).
On Day 236, police arrested 335 individuals and recovered four weapons. With these arrests, the total number of people arrested since the launch of the campaign has reached 70,363.
Police also took preventive action against 174 individuals and arrested 18 proclaimed offenders during the latest operation.
Punjab Police urged citizens to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities anonymously through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, the state police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 561st day. Police arrested 135 alleged drug smugglers and recovered 4.3 kg of heroin, 2.3 kg of opium, 862 intoxicant pills and Rs 4.01 lakh in drug money.
The total number of drug smugglers arrested during the 561-day campaign has now reached 77,844.
As part of its de-addiction and rehabilitation efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 19 individuals to undergo treatment for drug addiction on Sunday.
