A 16-year-old Class 11 student was allegedly drugged, abducted and sexually assaulted by nine people over three days in Hyderabad’s Medchal-Malkajgiri district, police said on Monday.
The accused, including some known to the minor, have been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). They were arrested after the girl managed to escape and, with the help of her family, approached Alwal Police Station under the Malkajgiri Police Commissionerate.
According to the preliminary investigation, the girl had come in contact with Jerry Varun while she was in Class 10. Police said he allegedly sexually assaulted her in his car after giving her a chocolate allegedly laced with sedatives.
Another accused, Romala Varun, who was introduced to her by Jerry Varun, also allegedly sexually assaulted her. Police said the girl was introduced to intoxicants including cigarettes, liquor and ganja during this period.
The investigation also found that the girl had earlier come in contact with David Varun through Instagram. He allegedly made her consume liquor and misbehaved with her.
On September 9, after the girl’s father reprimanded her over her behaviour, she left home and reached Bollarum Railway Station, where she met Neeraj. Police said Neeraj called his friend Vicky, and the two allegedly assaulted the girl after giving her intoxicating substances.
Vicky and Nikhil later allegedly took her to an OYO room in Dulapally, where they and two others allegedly assaulted her. Vicky subsequently took her to his house in Bollarum and confined her.
The following day, the girl escaped and reached Bollarum Railway Station. Police said Vicky and his friend Ganesh reached the station, forcibly gave her intoxicating substances and took her to Medchal Railway Station.
From there, they travelled towards Malkajgiri, during which the girl was allegedly assaulted in the train. After reaching Malkajgiri, she escaped from an autorickshaw and returned home.
Police have also arrested the owner and manager of the OYO hotel for allegedly allowing a minor to stay and allotting a room without proper verification.
