Veteran actress Nafisa Ali has revealed that her cancer has progressed and that her medical team has changed her treatment protocol, putting her on targeted therapy.
The ‘Life in a… Metro’ actress shared the health update on Sunday through an Instagram post featuring a picture of herself from the hospital. Expressing gratitude for the continued support and encouragement she has received, Nafisa wrote, “My treatment protocol has changed and now I have been put on Targeted Therapy… fighting the good fight. Thank you for always keeping my support energy strong.”
Explaining the development in simple terms, she added, “In very simple terms The PET/CT suggests that the ovarian/peritoneal cancer has progressed, with new deposits on the surface of the liver.”
Following her post, several social media users sent the actress prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery.
Nafisa has been battling stage 4 peritoneal and ovarian cancer. She was first diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and underwent treatment for stage 3 disease.
The actress was diagnosed with a recurrence of stage 4 peritoneal cancer last year and underwent surgery in April. She has also been undergoing chemotherapy as part of her continuing treatment.
In July, Nafisa revealed that she had completed her 10th chemotherapy session before travelling to Goa for some time by the sea.
Sharing a candid picture from the beach, she wrote, “Happy did my 10th chemotherapy yesterday and flew to Goa today for my beach walk … the sea is my healer.”
