Madhya Pradesh: Two found dead inside parked car in Ashoknagar; probe underway

Bhopal, June 25, 2026
Two persons were found dead inside a car parked on the outskirts of Madhya Pradesh’s Ashoknagar district on Thursday, prompting police to investigate the case from multiple angles, including murder, suicide and possible conspiracy.

The bodies of a man and a woman were discovered inside a car parked near a field on Isagarh Road under the Dehat police station limits. The incident created panic in the area after local residents spotted the vehicle standing in a suspicious manner and alerted the police.

According to police, the man was found in the driver’s seat with a gunshot injury to the head and burn marks on his face, while the woman, seated beside him, had her throat slit.

The deceased were identified as Ritik Soni and Muskan, both residents of Ashoknagar.

Muskan’s family said she had left home on Wednesday afternoon to go to a gym but did not return. After unsuccessful attempts to contact her, the family lodged a missing person complaint at the Kotwali police station.

Police said forensic experts were called to the scene and evidence was collected. A blood-stained axe and a cutter were recovered from inside the vehicle, while three mobile phones were found some distance away from the car. The vehicle has been seized for further investigation.

Ritik’s father, Rakesh Soni, said his son had returned to Ashoknagar from Indore around 15 days ago.

“When I reached the spot early in the morning, my son’s body was inside the car. Three mobile phones were lying nearly 50 feet away. Ritik and Muskan had worked in the same company in Indore for the last two to three years,” he said, demanding a fair and impartial probe into the case.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the two had previously worked together in a private company in Indore, a link that police are examining closely.

Dehat police station in-charge Bhuvnesh Sharma said the bodies had been sent for post-mortem examination and statements of family members were being recorded.

“Articles recovered from the spot have been seized. We are questioning relatives and investigating all possible angles. The exact sequence of events will become clear after the post-mortem and forensic reports,” Sharma said.(Agency)
