Jalandhar Commissionerate Police Solves Murder Case Within Hours

Commissionerate Police Jalandhar, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur and the supervision of Joint CP Sandeep Kumar Sharma, ADCP-1 Akarshi Jain and ACP North Atish Bhatia achieved a major breakthrough by solving the New Guru Nanak Nagar Near Nagra Railway Crossing murder case within a few hours of the incident, which occurred on the night of 12.08.2025.

The team of Police Station Division No. 1 arrested four accused and recovered the weapons used in the crime.

Sharing the details, CP Jalandhar informed that FIR No. 147 dated 13.08.2025 u/s 103(1), 109, 191(3), 190, 324(4) of the BNS 2023 and Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act was registered at Police Station Division No. 1 Jalandhar. The case was registered based on the statement of the complainant Jagiri S/O Piara Lal resident of Ashok Nagar Jalandhar.

According to the complainant on the night of 12.08.2025, his son Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi had gone to his relative’s house near Nagra railway crossing but did not return home. Concerned the complainant along with his son Sagar went to search for him and saw some persons standing nearby. One of them struck Gurpreet Singh on the head with a datar (sharp-edged weapon) while others also attacked him with different weapons.

Around 4–5 gunshots were fired from a rifle, injuring other relatives. Gurpreet Singh was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The police team acted swiftly and identified the accused with the help of CCTV footage, technical assistance, and intelligence inputs. Within hours, the four accused —1. Inderjit Singh @ Kaka, s/o Kulwant Singh, resident of Maharaja Garden Jalandhar, aged 19 years, 2. Makko @ Saurav s/o Daniel resident of Vivekanand Park Jalandhar, aged 23 years, 3.

Samson @ Bobby s/o Daniel resident of Vivekanand Park, Jalandhar aged 25 years and 4. Inderjit Singh Nihang, s/o Makhan Singh resident of Street No. 4 Ravidas Nagar Jinda Road Jalandhar aged 35 years — were arrested along with a rifle, three empty cartridges and a car. A search is ongoing to apprehend one more person involved in the incident.

CP Jalandhar said, “Such serious crimes will not be tolerated. The culprits will face strict legal action. We are committed to maintaining law and order in the city and ensuring the safety of our citizens.”
