Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy have been included in India’s 15-member squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, subject to fitness clearance, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Tuesday.
The series is scheduled to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on September 13, 15 and 17.
Shreyas Iyer will continue as captain, with Tilak Varma serving as vice-captain. The squad also includes Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Shivam Dube, Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakaravarthy.
Sanju Samson has returned to the T20I squad after missing the Zimbabwe series in July. Ishan Kishan is the other wicketkeeping option.
Bumrah’s return is the major development after the fast bowler was sidelined following an impact injury during the England ODIs in July. He subsequently missed India’s Test series against Sri Lanka, which India won 1-0.
Sundar has also returned after missing the Sri Lanka Tests because of a hamstring injury sustained during the ODIs against England. Rana, meanwhile, is back after recovering from a hamstring strain that ruled him out of the England ODIs. He had earlier returned to international cricket following recovery from a knee injury that kept him out of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Arshdeep Singh will be joined by Bumrah and Rana in the pace attack. Prince Yadav, Yash Thakur, Ashok Sharma and Mayank Yadav, who were part of the Zimbabwe touring squad, have not been included.
Hardik Pandya also does not feature in the squad.
