Armed robbery at Central Bank CSP in Sitamarhi; Rs 1.70 lakh looted at gunpoint

Patna, July 1, 2026

Three armed miscreants allegedly looted around Rs 1.70 lakh from a Customer Service Point (CSP) of the Central Bank of India in broad daylight in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in the Riga police station area and was captured on CCTV cameras, police said.

According to the police, the robbery took place at the Central Bank CSP in Anhadi village under the Riga police station limits.

The CSP operator, Rajeshwar Thakur, was inside his shop when three men arrived on an Apache motorcycle.

The suspects allegedly entered the premises, pulled down the shutter to prevent anyone from entering or leaving, and threatened the operator with a pistol.

Police said the accused allegedly looted the cash kept at the counter along with money from the operator’s pockets before fleeing with approximately Rs 1.70 lakh.

After receiving information about the robbery, Riga police reached the spot, inspected the scene and launched an investigation.

Officials are examining CCTV footage from the CSP and nearby locations.

According to the preliminary investigation, the entire incident was captured on surveillance cameras, which police are using to identify the suspects and trace their movements.

Rajiv Kumar Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Riga Police Station, said the police have identified the suspected robbers and are conducting continuous raids to apprehend them.

He expressed confidence that the case would be solved soon, while the investigation remains underway.

The daylight robbery has renewed concerns over security in the area.

Local residents have urged the police to arrest the accused at the earliest and strengthen security measures to prevent similar incidents.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected as police continue their search for the suspects.

“We have registered an FIR based on the written complaint lodged by CSP owner Rajeshwar Thakur against three individuals at Riga Police Station,” he said.(Agency)
