Actress Shweta Basu Prasad has marked a significant milestone in her journey as a student of Indian classical music by delivering her first-ever solo sitar recital on stage during the Guru Purnima Utsav in Mumbai.
Sharing moments from the performance on social media, the actress described the occasion as both emotional and memorable. She said she performed under the guidance of her guru, Ustad Zunain Khan, in the presence of her fellow disciples and family members.
Shweta revealed that her recital featured Raaga Yaman Kalyan set to Teen Taal, following the Indore Beenkar Gharana tradition. Reflecting on the experience, she wrote that she felt “nervous, excited, happy, peaceful” while performing.
The video posted by the actress shows her seated on stage, engrossed in the classical performance while accompanied by a tabla artiste. Dressed in a floral saree, Shweta presented the recital before an audience as part of the Guru Purnima celebrations.
Beyond her successful acting career, Shweta has consistently pursued her passion for Indian classical music, regularly sharing glimpses of her practice sessions and musical progress with her followers on social media.
On the professional front, Shweta has built a diverse body of work across films and digital platforms. She has appeared in acclaimed projects including The Tashkent Files, Serious Men, Ray, and Criminal Justice. She also won the National Film Award as a child actor for Makdee.
