India’s GCC Boom Gives Global Firms More State Options Beyond Bengaluru

New Delhi, August 4, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

India’s rapidly expanding Global Capability Centre (GCC) ecosystem is creating a new wave of competition among states to attract multinational companies, with the sector projected to become a $150 billion opportunity by 2030, according to an article published in One World Outlook.

The growth of GCCs is giving global companies a wider choice beyond Bengaluru, which has traditionally remained the centre of India’s technology industry. States are now positioning themselves as specialised destinations by offering a combination of skilled workforce, incentives, infrastructure and sector-specific advantages.

The article noted that GCCs have evolved significantly from being mere outsourced support centres for Western companies. They are increasingly becoming hubs where global firms develop critical technologies, including artificial intelligence platforms, semiconductor designs, financial risk models and supply-chain software.

According to the article, GCCs currently contribute around $65–70 billion in gross value addition to India’s economy, a figure that could rise substantially to between $100 billion and $150 billion by the end of the decade.

These centres now manage key global operations, including compliance functions for international banks, cybersecurity systems for multinational insurers, cloud infrastructure development and research and development activities.

The report highlighted that multinational companies are no longer choosing locations only on the basis of “onshore” or “offshore” models. Instead, they are evaluating different Indian states based on specialised capabilities, incentives and talent availability.

It pointed out that Gujarat’s GIFT City offers advantages for financial-sector operations, Karnataka remains strong in engineering and product development, while Telangana provides a strong talent base across pharmaceuticals and banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) sectors.

The article also observed that rising costs in Bengaluru have encouraged companies to explore emerging locations, including tier-II cities in states such as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, where lower costs and new incentive policies are becoming attractive.

With multiple states developing distinct GCC ecosystems, India is increasingly emerging as a diversified investment destination rather than a single technology hub, strengthening its position in the global business services landscape.
