A 29-year-old teacher was allegedly stabbed to death on the premises of a private school in Haryana’s Faridabad district on Monday after she was attacked by a man who police believe had been stalking her for nearly two years. The accused was arrested within hours of the crime following a swift police investigation.
The victim, identified as Sandhya, was employed at a private school in Sikrona village, near a police outpost. According to investigators, the accused, Amit, 21, a resident of Kot village, arrived at the school in the morning with his head, face and shoulders covered with a white cloth and asked to meet the teacher.
After school authorities informed Sandhya about the visitor, she stepped out to meet him. CCTV footage from the school allegedly shows the accused waiting in the lobby before signalling her to come outside. Police said he then grabbed her by the neck, dragged her outside and repeatedly stabbed her with a knife. The attack allegedly continued even after she collapsed.
School staff rushed to the spot after hearing her screams. The school administrator, who tried to intervene, told the media that the attacker threatened him with the knife before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle that reportedly had no registration number plate.
Sandhya was immediately taken to Al Falah Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Police arrested Amit within two hours of the incident. Officials said he later confessed to the crime during questioning.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused had been attempting to contact the victim for nearly two years despite her refusal to engage with him. Police also revealed that Sandhya had recently filed a molestation complaint against Amit. Sources said he had publicly apologised after the complaint, and investigators suspect the murder was driven by revenge.
The investigation is continuing to establish the full sequence of events and collect additional evidence.
