Russian financial institution Sberbank has secured the 64th position in the Fortune Global 500 ranking of the world’s largest companies by revenue, moving ahead of companies such as Tesla and Nike.
According to the latest Fortune ranking, Sberbank’s revenue increased by 36.8 per cent to $135.1 billion, while its profit rose 19.5 per cent to $20.4 billion. The bank has climbed 152 places over the past two years and improved its position by 38 spots compared with the previous ranking.
Sberbank was ranked above Tesla, which stood at 116th place, and Nike, placed at 336th position. It emerged as the highest-ranked Russian company among the nine Russian firms included in this year’s Fortune Global 500 list.
The top three positions were occupied by Amazon and Walmart of the United States, along with China’s State Grid.
The Fortune Global 500 ranking is based on annual revenue generated by the world’s largest companies. The companies featured in the 2025 list recorded combined revenues of $43.1 trillion, marking a 3.2 per cent increase from the previous year. Together, these corporations employ 70.2 million people and account for more than one-third of global GDP.
Sberbank is among Russia’s largest banking institutions and accounts for nearly one-third of the country’s banking sector assets. It is also a major lender to the Russian economy and holds a significant share of the domestic deposit market.
The bank has been operating in India for more than 15 years and has offices in New Delhi and Mumbai, along with an IT hub in Bengaluru. Through SberIndia, the bank provides services to corporate clients and supports business cooperation between Russian and Indian companies.
Sberbank is also developing an office centre in Delhi, which the bank says will serve as a hub for Russian businesses operating in India. The project was announced in June 2026 by Sberbank Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board Anatoly Popov at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The proposed centre is expected to showcase digital technologies and financial solutions while offering business support services, including legal, tax, audit and credit assistance.
