KTR Threatens Protest Outside Rahul Gandhi’s Residence Over Telangana Job Promises

Hyderabad, August 3, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao on Monday threatened to stage a protest outside Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s residence in Delhi, accusing the Telangana government of failing to fulfil promises made to the state’s youth, including the commitment to provide two lakh jobs.

Targeting Rahul Gandhi and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the former minister alleged that the Congress government had pushed unemployed youth towards frustration by failing to deliver on assurances made in its Youth Declaration.

Addressing a press conference, KTR claimed that Rahul Gandhi had promised two lakh jobs within the first year of the Congress government, but “not even 10,000 jobs” had been filled in two years.

He said the police department alone had around 20,000 vacancies, but the government had issued notifications for only 7,000 posts.

“Congress deceived people with its pre-election declarations. Even the ‘Job Calendar’ tabled in the legislature has gone nowhere,” KTR said, alleging that none of the 24 commitments made under the Youth and Student Declarations had been implemented.

The BRS leader referred to the case of a student named Venu from Khammam, who allegedly attempted suicide over delays in recruitment notifications by the Telangana State Public Service Commission for Group 1-4 posts. KTR said the student was fighting for his life and had sought answers from Rahul Gandhi, Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

He said the student’s handwritten note demanding annual job calendars on the lines of the Union Public Service Commission was a reflection of the anger among unemployed youth.

“Where is Rahul Gandhi while young people here are resorting to suicide? The youth of Telangana want accountability, and they will not remain silent,” KTR said.

He appealed to unemployed youth not to take extreme steps and assured that the BRS would fill vacant posts if it returned to power.

KTR also criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his reported remark describing engineers as “criminal waste” and questioned Rahul Gandhi’s silence on the issue.

“Neither Rahul nor Revanth has the courage to come forward and speak to the students. Rahul rushes to the scene if lathi-charges occur in other states. He never shows up when lathi-charges occur in Congress-ruled states,” he said.

The BRS leader also questioned Revanth Reddy’s educational background and asked whether the Chief Minister had appeared for competitive examinations or interviews.

KTR further alleged that Telangana’s ranking in ease of doing business had declined after the Congress came to power, claiming the state had slipped from first to 13th position. He attributed the decline to what he described as a lack of progressive policies and allegations of extortion against ministers and their associates.

Citing NASSCOM and STPI, he claimed that technology sector employment had also declined after the change in government.

On the anti-paper leak bill passed by Parliament, KTR said legislation alone could not solve the problem unless backed by effective implementation and coordination between the Centre and states.

He said while any step taken in the interest of students was welcome, the effectiveness of the law would depend on its execution and intent.
