US President Donald Trump on Monday issued a strong warning to Iran, asserting that “nothing will get through” to the country unless it reaches an agreement with the United States or accepts what he described as “total surrender.”
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump accused the Iranian leadership of being “unbelievably duplicitous,” alleging that while Tehran seeks meetings and engages in discussions, it publicly denies that any negotiations are taking place and claims to be dealing only with Oman.
The US President also asserted that the Strait of Hormuz is under the complete control of the US Navy, describing it as part of a “United States Wall of Steel.” He claimed that no shipments would reach Iran unless permitted by the United States and reiterated that Washington’s objective remains preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
Trump said the United States was engaged in efforts to resolve what he called a long-standing problem created by Iran and declared that “Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.”
Meanwhile, Iran acknowledged ongoing discussions with Oman regarding maritime arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said negotiations are focused on establishing a temporary intermediate shipping route to ensure safe navigation through the strategic waterway.
Speaking at a weekly press conference in Tehran, Baghaei said the proposal envisages a corridor combining the southern route through Omani waters and the northern route through Iran’s territorial waters. He added that the discussions are centred on creating a single round-trip corridor, which would serve as a temporary arrangement until a permanent route is finalised.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most strategically important maritime passages for global energy supplies, making developments in the region closely watched by the international community.
