Mann Govt Has Taken Steps To Provide Compensation To Flood-Hit by Oct 15: Dhaliwal

Amritsar/Ajnala, September 11, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

In villages and towns across Punjab, including the Ajnala constituency, the Punjab government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann has taken proper steps to provide suitable compensation by October 15, within one month, to farmers and families affected by floods. This will be done by conducting girdawari (assessment) of the destroyed crops, as well as surveys of damaged houses and lost cattle.

These thoughts were shared today by constituency MLA and former cabinet minister S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal while addressing a prayer gathering after the conclusion of the Akhand Path Sahib at the historic *Gurdwara Sri Paro Sahib, Sudhar (Ajnala)*.

The event was held to pray for peace in the region, the Chardi Kala of the flood victims, and to thank religious and social service organizations, volunteer saints, political workers, and village panchayats who provided relief and assistance to the affected.

S. Dhaliwal said that under the state government’s disaster management rules, immediate action was taken.

With the cooperation of District Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Sakshi Sahni, SSP Amritsar Rural Maninder Singh, and the army, as many as 3,200 precious lives were saved from floodwaters, although sadly 3 people lost their lives.

He further said that as the first step of relief, day and night efforts were made to deliver food and essentials to starving families. Punjabis from unaffected areas showed their traditional courage and spirit by actively sending relief material.

Artists from Bollywood and the Punjabi film industry, singers, and Punjabis living abroad sent boats, rafts, and other equipment to help. Likewise, donors from neighboring states such as Rajasthan, Haryana, and Delhi, including Sikh institutions and other religious-social groups, also contributed relief materials, joining in this collective service.

As the elected representative of Ajnala, S. Dhaliwal thanked these organizations and also appealed that in the next phase, preparations should begin immediately to provide wheat seed, diesel, and fertilizers to flood-affected farmers for the upcoming rabi crop (wheat sowing), according to their cultivable land.

Panchayats and Aam Aadmi Party volunteers should, without any discrimination or political considerations, start preparing lists of affected farmers in every village, as well as lists for the rehabilitation of poor families, so that adequate assistance reaches everyone in need.

*Also present on the occasion* were: Chief Sevadar and ascetic saint Baba Waryam Singh of the Gurdwara Sahib, Prof. Nirmal Singh Cheharratta (descendant of Brahmgyani Baba Budha Sahib Ji), Bhai Manjit Singh Bhoma (in charge of the Religious Punjab Wing of the Delhi Gurdwara Committee), senior leader Khushpal Singh Dhaliwal, senior woman leader and social worker Advocate Amandeep Kaur Dhaliwal, Market Committee Chairman Baldev Singh Babbu Chetanpura, Ajnala Nagar Panchayat President Bhatti Jaspal Singh Dhillon, Urban President and Chairman Amit Aul, Women’s Wing Constituency Coordinator Gurdeep Kaur, Councillor Rajbir Kaur Chahal, Block President Davinder Singh Sonu, along with dozens of senior leaders, panches, sarpanches, and leaders of various religious and social organizations.
