Four members of a family were found dead inside a water tank in Loharki village of Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district, triggering shock and grief in the area. Police are investigating the incident from multiple angles, including the possibility of suicide.
The deceased have been identified as Jasraj Suthar, 29, his wife Nirma Suthar, 25, their 10-year-old son Bharat, and five-year-old daughter Manisha.
According to police, the incident took place around 9 pm on Sunday under the jurisdiction of Ramdevra police station. Ramdevra SHO Devkishan said Jasraj’s brother allegedly saw him entering the water tank and raised an alarm.
Family members and villagers rushed to the spot, but by the time they reached the tank, all four had drowned.
With the assistance of local residents, police recovered the bodies and shifted them to the hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination. The bodies will be handed over to the family after completion of the medical procedure.
Police officials inspected the site, collected evidence, and informed the relatives of the deceased woman. The exact circumstances behind the deaths will be established after the post-mortem report and further investigation.
During the preliminary probe, police found indications of a possible domestic dispute between the couple, but officials said no conclusion has been drawn so far and all possibilities remain open.
Investigators are questioning family members and villagers to understand the events that led to the tragedy.
The incident has left Loharki village and nearby areas in mourning, with residents gathering at the spot after learning about the deaths. Police have urged people not to speculate until the investigation is completed.
