India will host the BRICS Youth Ministers’ Meeting and BRICS Sports Ministers’ Meeting in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, from Saturday under its BRICS Chairship 2026, with ministers and senior representatives from all 11 member countries participating.
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya will chair the meetings, while Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse will also take part.
The two-day programme will focus on strengthening cooperation among BRICS members in youth development and sports.
The Youth Ministers’ Meeting will discuss education, skill development, entrepreneurship, youth welfare, wellbeing and sustainable development. The deliberations are expected to conclude with the adoption of the BRICS Youth Ministerial Joint Declaration and the BRICS Youth Cooperation Framework.
The Sports Ministers’ Meeting on August 23 will reaffirm the members’ commitment to greater cooperation in sports. The Sports Track under India’s chairship has focused on traditional and indigenous sports, sports technology, sports manufacturing and finalisation of the joint declaration.
The meeting will conclude with adoption of the BRICS Sports Joint Declaration.
The programme will also feature the BRICS Friendship Cycling Event, country statements by representatives of all 11 member states, bilateral meetings and cultural engagements.
Representatives from Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates will participate in the Sports Ministers’ Meeting.
India’s BRICS Chairship 2026 is being conducted under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, reflecting a people-centric and humanity-first approach.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports said the ministerial engagements would build on discussions held during India’s chairship and provide an important platform for advancing cooperation among BRICS countries.
