Punjab Police conducted 634 raids across the state on Saturday as part of its ongoing “Gangstran Te Vaar” campaign against gangster networks, arresting 352 people and recovering four weapons, officials said.
The operation marked the 214th day of the campaign, which was launched by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, with the objective of making the state free of gangster-related crime.
Police teams from districts across Punjab, working in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), conducted searches at identified and mapped locations linked to associates of gangsters.
Seven proclaimed offenders were also arrested during the day’s operations, while preventive action was taken against 197 individuals.
With Saturday’s arrests, the total number of people arrested under the campaign has reached 63,417, police said.
The Punjab Police has also urged citizens to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and other criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. The police said information can be provided anonymously.
Meanwhile, the state’s anti-drug campaign, “Yudh Nashian Virudh”, entered its 539th day. Police arrested 79 alleged drug smugglers during the day’s operations and recovered 2.1 kg of heroin, 17 kg of poppy husk, 310 intoxicant pills and Rs 39,700 in suspected drug money.
The cumulative number of drug smugglers arrested during the 539-day campaign has risen to 76,330, according to the police.
As part of its de-addiction and rehabilitation efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 14 people on Saturday to undergo treatment for substance dependence.
