Rajasthan School Dispute Turns Political as CJP, Villagers Clash Over Dilapidated Building

Jaipur, August 22, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

A dispute over the poor condition of a government primary school in Rajasthan’s Rampura-Kanwarpura village has escalated into a political controversy following a confrontation between villagers and members of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP).

The school, located in the Bagru Assembly constituency, has reportedly remained in a dilapidated condition for the past one to two years. Students are currently studying from a private residence, while questions have also been raised over the rent being paid for the temporary premises.

The controversy erupted on Friday when a CJP team visited the village to inspect the school. CJP activists alleged that they were assaulted and prevented from carrying out the inspection. Villagers, however, objected to political organisations turning the issue into a confrontation and maintained that they themselves wanted the school rebuilt.

The situation intensified after protesters allegedly blocked a road with tractor-trolleys. A second confrontation took place when the CJP team returned with party spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka.

CJP subsequently accused Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar of instigating the incident and issued a 48-hour ultimatum seeking action against those allegedly involved and removal of restrictions on school inspections.

Dilawar rejected the allegations and backed the villagers, saying schools should remain secure and that anyone seeking to enter a school should obtain permission from the head of the institution.

At the centre of the dispute is the claim by villagers that around Rs 12 lakh has already been sanctioned for construction of a new school building. If the funds have been sanctioned, the key questions are when construction will begin, where students will study until completion, and who will monitor the quality and progress of the project.

Villager Chhota Devi Sharma acknowledged that the school was in poor condition and said improving the facility should take precedence over the confrontation between the two sides. Other villagers also said the sanctioned funds should be utilised for construction rather than allowing the issue to become a political dispute.

The CJP has said the incident is part of its wider campaign to highlight the condition of government schools. The organisation has been visiting schools following complaints and has questioned restrictions on such inspections.

The dispute has now broadened into a debate over political intervention, school security and the role of outside organisations in inspecting government institutions. However, the immediate concern for students and parents remains the same: securing a safe school building, functioning classrooms and basic educational facilities.
