The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested two operatives of an abroad-based gangster Goldy Dhillon’s gang and recovered arms, mobile phones and one motorcycle, officials said on Saturday.
An official statement said that a team of Anti-Robbery and Snatching Cell (ARSC), Crime Branch, led by Inspector Man Singh and Inspector Sunder Gautam, under the close supervision of ARSC ACP Sanjay Kr. Nagpal has arrested key operatives of notorious gangster Goldy Dhillon.
The arrested accused have been identified as 28-year-olds Jatin Bhardwaj, alias Nannu, and Sukhwinder Singh, alias Bagga. Both of them are residents of Rajpura in Punjab.
According to investigators, for the last two to three months, a dedicated team of the ARSC, Crime Branch, has been continuously working on cases involving extortion calls made to businessmen by gangsters operating from outside India.
Following the receipt of extortion calls and subsequent claims of responsibility on social media, the team carried out extensive technical surveillance and field verification.
During the course of the verification, several suspected persons with dozens of previous criminal cases were identified and verified. These individuals were found to be providing logistical support to foreign-based gangsters and were also carrying out criminal activities at their direction, according to the officials.
The investigators found that some people were also in contact with the foreign-based gangster through sophisticated communication apps like Zangi and Signal.
On June 24, specific information was received regarding the movement of Jatin alias Nannu, who will visit the capital’s Rohini area. Acting swiftly on the information, a trap was laid in the area at the instance of a secret informer.
At about 10:50 p.m., the suspect was apprehended and subsequently identified as Jatin. One semi-automatic pistol and four live cartridges were recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, legal action was initiated, and the accused person was arrested in case FIR No. 173/26 dated June 25, under Sections 25/54/59 Arms Act, registered at Crime Branch Police Station.
Subsequently, the source of the recovered firearms was located to Sukhwinder alias Bagga, who was also arrested in this case. One country-made pistol and two live cartridges were recovered at his instance.
The first accused, Jatin Bhardwaj, is reportedly a drug addict and used to work for gangster Goldy Dhillon and his associate Sukhvinder Singh alias Bagga. He was previously found involved in 14 cases of theft, burglary, snatching, Arms Act, NDPS Act, etc., between 2014 and 2025, with various cases registered in Punjab and Haryana.
Police said that the second arrested accused, Sukhwinder Singh, is also a drug addict and a childhood friend of Goldy Dhillon. He reportedly provided logistic support and hideouts to his gang members as per Dhillon’s directions.
Investigation revealed that the second accused deliberately established supremacy and dominance of his criminal network in the area by intimidating rival drug suppliers and eliminating competition. Singh was previously found involved in seven cases of theft, burglary, snatching, Arms Act, NDPS Act, etc., between 2016 and 2025, with cases registered against him in Punjab.
With the arrests, investigators have recovered one semi-automatic pistol (.32 bore), one country-made pistol, six live cartridges, one motorcycle and four mobile phones.
Further, officials said that Goldy Dhillon has allegedly sought to establish and maintain dominance over the illegal arms trafficking and Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) trade in Punjab by eliminating competition through intimidation, threats and acts of violence carried out by his associates.
His syndicate is believed to have exercised influence over the supply chain of illegal weapons and narcotic substances, compelling local criminals and peddlers to operate under its control or face severe consequences.
Such activities were allegedly aimed at creating a monopoly over the illicit trade and strengthening the financial base of the criminal syndicate.
Recently, Goldy Dhillon’s name also surfaced during the investigation into the murder of a medical store manager in Chandigarh, further indicating the alleged continued involvement of his criminal network in serious offences.
The incident is being investigated as part of the broader activities of the syndicate, which has repeatedly come under the scrutiny of law enforcement agencies for its alleged role in organised crime and violent criminal activities.(Agency)
