Actor Adil Hussain has shared his perspective on dealing with mistakes, saying he does not allow guilt or regret to define his life and instead focuses on learning and moving forward.
Speaking during the promotions of his recently released film Max, Min and Meowzaki, Hussain said he consciously avoids dwelling on past errors, a mindset he attributes to lessons learned during his acting training.
Recalling advice from one of his acting teachers, the actor said he was once told not to apologise excessively after making a mistake but to recognise it, correct it and move ahead. He said that experience taught him not to remain trapped in guilt or regret, adding that he sees little place for either emotion in his life.
Hussain stressed that mistakes are inevitable but should serve as opportunities for growth rather than reasons for self-punishment. According to him, guilt becomes harmful when people remain stuck in it for longer than necessary instead of using it as a prompt to improve.
The actor also observed that prolonged guilt can negatively affect mental well-being, with some people allowing it to consume their lives. While acknowledging that putting his philosophy into practice is not always easy, he described it as a simple principle that requires consistent effort.
Hussain said he continues to make mistakes like everyone else but makes a conscious effort to reflect on them, learn from them and avoid repeating them in the future.
