SAD (Punar Surjit) Chief Giani Harpreet Singh Announces 8-Member Coordination Committee to Expand Panthic Alliance

Chandigarh, June 19, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar-Surjit) President Giani Harpreet Singh on Thursday announced the formation of an eight-member coordination committee aimed at strengthening Panthic unity and facilitating dialogue with other political, religious and social organisations to build a broader common platform for Punjab.

In a written statement, Giani Harpreet Singh said the initiative has been taken in the spirit of the December 2 Hukamnamas issued by the Panj Singh Sahibaan, which had called upon Panthic forces to unite under one Nishan Sahib.

He recalled that four Panthic organisations recently came together at a gathering in Jalandhar as part of the ongoing unity efforts. These included Shiromani Akali Dal (Punar-Surjit), the International Panthic Dal led by Singh Sahib Jasbir Singh Rode, the United Akali Dal headed by S. Gurdeep Singh Bathinda, and the Begampura Khalsa Raj Party led by S. Gurinder Singh Bajwa.

To further expand this process and engage other like-minded organisations, an eight-member coordination committee has been constituted with representatives from the four groups.

The committee comprises:

  • S. Gurpartap Singh Wadala
  • S. Sucha Singh Chhotepur
  • S. Boota Singh Ransinh
  • S. Gurinder Singh Bajwa
  • S. Jatinder Singh Isru
  • Sant Charanjit Singh Jassowal
  • Bhai Mohkam Singh
  • S. Parampal Singh Sabhra

Giani Harpreet Singh said the committee would soon initiate discussions with farmer unions, Panthic organisations and other political parties to explore the possibility of creating a common platform based on a shared Punjab-centric agenda.

The move is being viewed as a significant step towards forging wider Panthic and political cooperation ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, Giani Harpreet Singh also announced the appointment of new district observers as part of the party’s organisational expansion programme.

The appointments are as follows:

Barnala-Mansa District

  • S. Gobind Singh Longowal
  • S. Harvinder Singh Gagarpur

Muktsar-Fazilka District

  • S. Hardev Singh Hamid

Ferozepur-Faridkot District

  • S. Gurbhej Singh Sidhu
  • Jathedar Charan Singh

The newly appointed observers have been tasked with strengthening the party organisation at the grassroots level and coordinating future political and organisational activities in their respective districts.
