Punjab Hikes Milk Procurement Rate by ₹40 per kg Fat, CM Mann Announces Relief for Dairy Farmers

Chandigarh, July 25, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced an increase of ₹40 per kilogram of fat in the milk procurement rate, accepting a demand raised by the Progressive Dairy Farmers’ Association (PDFA) to provide relief to dairy farmers grappling with rising production costs.

The announcement came after the Chief Minister held a meeting with a delegation of the PDFA, led by its President Daljit Singh Gill Sadarpura, along with members of the association’s Executive and Core Committees.

During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the financial strain on dairy farmers due to a sharp rise in cattle feed prices and other input costs, stating that increasing production expenses had made dairy farming economically challenging.

Responding to the concerns, Mann approved the increase in the procurement rate, which will come into effect from July 21. The state government said the revision is expected to provide financial relief to thousands of dairy farmers across Punjab.

The Chief Minister said his government remains committed to safeguarding the interests of all sections linked to agriculture and believes in resolving stakeholders’ concerns through direct dialogue and timely action.

PDFA President Daljit Singh Gill thanked the Chief Minister for responding promptly to the association’s demand. He said the enhanced procurement rate would help dairy farmers cope with escalating production costs and strengthen the state’s dairy sector.

The association also appreciated the Punjab Government’s willingness to engage directly with farmers and address their concerns through consultation.
