Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, has taken another step towards strengthening industry-academia collaboration with a visit by its Director, Training and Placement, Harjot Singh Sidhu, to Groz-Beckert Pvt. Ltd., Chandigarh.
The visit was aimed at exploring opportunities for long-term collaboration in areas such as skill development, industrial training, internships, live industry exposure and campus placements for students.
During the interaction, university officials and the company’s leadership discussed initiatives to enhance industry engagement and equip students with practical skills aligned with evolving industry requirements. Both sides emphasised the importance of closer cooperation in preparing graduates for the competitive job market.
Groz-Beckert, founded in Germany in 1852, is a global manufacturer of industrial machine needles, precision parts, fine tools and systems for the textile and industrial sectors. Its Chandigarh facility, established in 1960, is the company’s first manufacturing unit in India and one of its earliest production plants in Asia.
Highlighting the significance of such collaborations, Harjot Singh Sidhu said the university remains committed to developing sustainable partnerships with leading industries to provide students with practical exposure and industry-oriented learning.
“Our interaction with Groz-Beckert has opened promising avenues for collaboration in industrial training, internships, skill development and placements. Such partnerships play a vital role in bridging the gap between academia and industry while enhancing the employability of our graduates,” he said.
The university said it will continue to strengthen ties with industry leaders to create better learning and career opportunities for its students.
