New Delhi, August 23, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will visit Japan from August 24 to 27, leading India’s largest-ever business delegation to the country, with more than 200 representatives from key sectors including manufacturing, semiconductors, clean energy, steel, automobiles, financial services, healthcare and start-ups.

According to an official statement issued on Sunday, Goyal will travel to Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka as India and Japan seek to further strengthen trade and investment ties under their Special Strategic and Global Partnership.

In Tokyo, Goyal is scheduled to meet senior executives of major Japanese conglomerates and industrial groups that have longstanding business interests in India. He will also participate in a round-table with Keidanren, the Japan Business Federation, which represents more than 1,500 leading Japanese companies.

The Tokyo programme will include dedicated discussions on semiconductors and artificial intelligence, start-ups and engagement with foreign institutional investors, highlighting investment and innovation opportunities in India.

Goyal will hold bilateral talks with Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Akazawa Ryosei and meet senior members of the Japanese government and Parliament. He is also scheduled to interact with the Indian community in Japan.

In Nagoya, a major industrial centre in central Japan, Goyal will lead a roadshow with Chukeiren, the Central Japan Economic Federation, and the Nagoya Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He will also meet the leadership of Aichi Prefecture and major investors in the automotive and steel sectors.

The visit will conclude in Osaka with an Investors and Business Roadshow and meetings with Japanese companies from the electronics, industrial and consumer sectors. The engagements will focus on opportunities in India’s manufacturing, clean energy and consumer markets.

Japan has been a major partner for India in investment, technology and industrial cooperation, with Japanese companies having a significant presence in sectors such as automobiles, steel, electronics, financial services and infrastructure.

The government said the visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to bilateral trade and investment and create new opportunities for cooperation in high-technology manufacturing and next-generation industries.
