Actor-model Asim Riaz has responded to comments made by his former girlfriend Himanshi Khurana about religious differences in their past relationship, denying that he ever asked anyone to change their religion and accusing her of using the issue to create negativity around him.
In a social media post, Asim said he had never asked anyone to change their faith. He also claimed that he was the one who encouraged Himanshi to focus on fitness and made remarks about her appearance before they met.
“So please, don’t use religion as a weapon. It’s a deeply sensitive subject, and turning something so personal into a reason for people to hate me is immature and only shows how low you’re willing to go for attention,” he wrote.
Asim also rejected any suggestion that others were responsible for building his career and said money should not be treated as a measure of character. He further criticised those revisiting details of his past relationship, saying it reflected more on the people discussing them than on him.
Taking an apparent dig at podcast host and former Bigg Boss contestant Paras Chhabra, Asim described him as a person who had made gossip his profession and suggested that he spend less time discussing other people’s lives and more time in the gym.
The remarks came after Himanshi appeared on Chhabra’s podcast and discussed the religious differences that affected her previous relationship without naming Asim. She said her former partner had spoken to her about his religion and wanted her to understand and accept it, but she did not want to do so because she felt it would amount to betraying her own faith.
Himanshi also recalled reaching a point where she questioned whether she would be “cremated or buried” if she accepted another faith.
Asim and Himanshi met during Bigg Boss 13 and their relationship continued after the reality show. They dated for around four years before announcing their separation in December 2023, citing religious differences at the time.
