Music composer Akhil Sachdeva, who has composed the song ‘Piya Ghar Aaya – Homecoming’ for the recently released Emraan Hashmi-starrer ‘Awarapan 2’, has revealed that he was removed from three to four major film projects even after delivering songs for them.
Speaking to IANS in Mumbai following the release of the film, Akhil said he has chosen to stay away from the industry’s rat race and continues to create music from his home studio in Delhi.
“I don’t want to balance anything. You can never balance, you can try as much as you want, you can’t balance, you will keep trying,” he said.
The composer said his decision not to relocate to Mumbai reflects his preference for working independently and focusing solely on his music.
“I come quietly, work quietly and leave. I make music in my home studio in Delhi. I have a different way of thinking. I want to be alone. I don’t want to be in a rat race,” he said.
Recalling setbacks in his career, Akhil said he had been dropped from several high-profile films after completing songs for them.
“Last year, I was kicked out of so many big films till the last moment. I delivered songs. I don’t want to take names but there were three-four big films, and I delivered songs,” he said.
Rather than blaming those involved, Akhil attributed the setbacks to circumstances and said his personal life also underwent a positive change following the birth of his daughter.
“I can’t say that people were wrong, I can say time was not favourable. My daughter came, and things improved greatly,” he said.
The composer said the experience had taught him to remain focused on his craft and not be discouraged by professional setbacks.
“I have learned a lot. I will only focus on music. I just want to make, and always be connected with the hearts of the audience,” Akhil said.
He added that his aim was to build a lasting connection with listeners rather than focus on immediate success.
“It’s not about today or tomorrow. I was here yesterday, I am here today and I will be here till the end. That’s what I believe and that’s why I work here,” he said.
