Ms Rupinderjit Chahal, Ld. District and Sessions Judge cum Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala accompanied by Ms. Manni Arora, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala, conducted the inspection of the Central Jail, Patiala, New District Jail, Nabha and Open Air Jail, Nabha. During the thorough inspection, Ms Rupinderjit Chahal personally visited barracks of the jails.
In an effort to address the concerns of the inmates, the Hon’ble Judge engaged in meaningful conversations with them.
Directives were issued to the Jail Superintendents, as well as other officers and staff, emphasizing the importance of promptly resolving the grievances and problems faced by the inmates. Special emphasis was placed on ensuring adequate health and medical facilities for the inmates.
On this occasion, jail inmates were made aware by Ms Manni Arora, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala about plea bargaining, main provisions of Juvenile Justice Act, Scheme for poor prisoners, Drug abuse, free legal services, Right of convict to file application for parole, Remission Rights for Convicts and about Interim Bail for Life Convicts in view of the Directions of the Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court in COCP-2020-2022 (O&M) – Pawan Kumar vs. D.K. Tiwari & Others.
