The day-long trials featured competition across all 10 weight categories, with wrestlers from major wrestling states, including Haryana, Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, vying for places in the Indian contingent.
The winners in each category will represent India at the U23 World Championships, while the runners-up will join the national camp as sparring partners to strengthen the team’s preparations.
The selected wrestlers will assemble for an intensive preparatory camp ahead of their international assignments.
WFI President Sanjay Singh praised the quality and depth of competition during the trials and expressed confidence in the selected contingent.
“The level of wrestling witnessed today at the IG Stadium demonstrates the incredible depth and strength of Indian women’s wrestling. Every bout was closely contested, proving how hard these athletes have been training. I congratulate all the winners and every wrestler who stepped onto the mat today,” he said.
“We are confident that this strong contingent will perform exceptionally well and bring glory to the country at both the Senior World Championships in Kazakhstan and the U23 World Championships in the USA,” Singh added.
Haryana dominated the trials, securing several top positions, while Maharashtra also produced a strong performance across multiple categories.
Parveen won the 50kg category, while Sweety topped the 53kg division. Maharashtra’s Ahilya Shinde emerged victorious in the 55kg category, with Delhi’s Neha Sharma finishing first in the 57kg division.
Komal secured the top position in the 59kg category, while Neha won the 62kg division. Maharashtra’s Vaishnavi Patil topped the 65kg category, followed by Mansi Lather, who finished first in the 68kg division.
Amruta Pujari of Maharashtra won the 72kg category, while Diksha Malik claimed the top spot in the 76kg division.

With the selection process complete, attention now turns to the national camp, where India’s emerging women wrestlers will prepare for the U23 World Wrestling Championships in the United States.
