Punjab FC have strengthened their attacking options ahead of the 2026–27 season with the signing of Cameroonian centre-forward Raphaël Éric Messi Bouli on a contract running until May 31, 2027.
The 1.86-metre (6 ft 1 in) striker brings physical strength, aerial ability and a sharp presence inside the penalty area. He can operate as a conventional No. 9 while also contributing to combinations in the final third, offering Punjab FC greater depth and flexibility in attack.
A former senior-level Cameroon international, Messi Bouli has extensive experience of football in India and across Asia. He first made a significant impact in Indian football during the 2019–20 Indian Super League (ISL) season with Kerala Blasters, scoring eight goals.
The forward has also enjoyed productive spells in China, where he scored more than 40 goals across stints with Nanjing City, Yanbian Funde and Shijiazhuang Gongfu. His career has also included a spell with Iran’s Foolad, besides periods with East Bengal FC and Jamshedpur FC in the ISL.
Reacting to his move to Punjab FC, Messi Bouli said he was “very happy” to join the club for the upcoming season and praised its footballing setup and ambition.
“Having played in India before, I know the competitive intensity of the league and what it takes to deliver on the pitch. I look forward to joining my teammates, giving my absolute best in every training session and match, and bringing joy to the fans with goals and victories,” he said.
The signing reflects Punjab FC’s approach of combining established international experience with domestic talent as the club prepares for the 2026–27 campaign.
