The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday conducted searches at two locations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district as part of an ongoing investigation into a terror-related case, officials said.
NIA teams, accompanied by personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), searched two residential premises in Bijbehara and Dooru areas of the district.
The searches are part of the agency’s continuing investigations into terror conspiracies, financing networks and support structures linked to banned militant organisations and their affiliates in Jammu and Kashmir.
The NIA has been probing cases involving alleged terror funding and the misuse of charitable networks to raise and channel funds for secessionist activities. Investigations have also focused on overground workers and hybrid operatives allegedly linked to groups such as The Resistance Front (TRF), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Al-Badr.
The agency has also investigated cases involving the movement of arms, ammunition, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), sticky bombs and narcotics through drone-based deliveries and cross-border networks.
Other investigations have examined alleged radicalisation and digital propaganda, including the use of social media platforms to recruit and influence local youth for newly formed militant outfits.
The NIA’s earlier terror-funding investigations in Jammu and Kashmir had also examined alleged financial channels used to fund unrest and stone-pelting. The agency filed chargesheets against several separatist leaders in such cases, including Yasin Malik, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2022.
The agency has also investigated alleged hawala networks, cross-border trade-related financial channels and other mechanisms suspected of being used to support violent activities.
In another major case, an NIA Special Court sentenced Dukhtaran-e-Millat founder Aasiya Andrabi to life imprisonment, while two of her associates were awarded 30-year prison terms in a case concerning alleged anti-national and secessionist activities.
Further details about Saturday’s searches, including any seizures or detentions, were not immediately available.
