BJP president Nitin Nabin holds first meeting with newly appointed team at party HQ

New Delhi, August 22, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin on Saturday chaired his first meeting with the newly appointed national office-bearers at the party headquarters in New Delhi, with organisational strengthening and preparations for programmes marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years in public life among the key issues on the agenda.

The day-long organisational exercise includes three separate meetings focusing on the introduction of the new office-bearers, preparations for nationwide programmes to mark the milestone and other organisational matters.

Nabin is expected to brief the newly appointed leaders on their roles and responsibilities and outline the organisational expectations associated with their positions. The discussions are also likely to emphasise maintaining an active presence on social media, effective engagement with the media and regular interaction with party workers.

The meetings will also focus on identifying public issues and strengthening coordination between different levels of the organisation. The responsibilities assigned to individual office-bearers are expected to be reviewed as part of the effort to improve organisational functioning.

The BJP’s preparations for upcoming elections are also likely to feature in the discussions. Assembly elections are scheduled in seven states next year, while the party is expected to begin organisational planning with an eye on the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

Nabin is also scheduled to meet BJP state presidents, organisational general secretaries, state in-charges and co-in-charges as part of the organisational exercise.

A major focus will be the roadmap for programmes to be organised across the country to mark Modi completing 25 years in public life. Modi became Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001, and remained in the post for nearly 13 years before becoming Prime Minister in 2014.

The BJP announced its new 65-member national team under Nabin’s leadership on August 17. The team includes 51 new faces, marking a major reshuffle and expansion of the party’s national organisation.

Saturday’s meetings are expected to set the direction for the new team and outline the BJP’s organisational priorities ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle.
