Mohan Bhagwat to visit US, UK and Canada to counter ‘misconceptions’ about India, Hindus and RSS

Visakhapatnam, August 21, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is set to visit the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom as part of the organisation’s global outreach during its centenary year, with the objective of countering what it describes as propaganda and misconceptions about India, Hindus and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

RSS Joint General Secretary C.R. Mukund said on Friday that the outreach would seek to present a factual and positive perspective about India and Hindu society while engaging with communities in the three countries.

Briefing the media after a three-day all-India coordination meeting of the RSS and its affiliated organisations at Gudilova near Visakhapatnam, Mukund said Bhagwat’s visit would have three principal objectives.

The first would be to address misconceptions and what the RSS views as negative propaganda concerning India, Hindus and the Sangh. The second would be to convey the message of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” — the concept of the world being one family — and India’s philosophy of global oneness.

“The third objective is to foster dialogue with mainstream societies in various countries regarding the interests and rights of Hindus and people of Indian origin residing there,” Mukund said.

Bhagwat is scheduled to participate in the ‘Universal Oneness’ programme in New York and community leadership events in Toronto and London.

The RSS chief, General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, BJP president Nitin Nabin and senior office-bearers of the RSS and its affiliated organisations attended the annual coordination meeting.

Of the 326 delegates invited to the three-day meeting, 306, including 49 women, participated. Mukund said the participants reviewed the prevailing situation in the country and society, the work undertaken by affiliated organisations, their experiences, emerging challenges and action plans for the coming year.

The meeting also reviewed community-based relief and rehabilitation efforts following natural disasters. Participants discussed assistance provided during the severe floods in Assam by organisations and activists associated with Rashtriya Seva Bharati, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, National Medicos Organisation, Arogya Bharati and the BJP.

The delegates also deliberated on a development model rooted in an Indian perspective, with emphasis on self-reliance, environmental sustainability and inclusiveness. More than 41,000 people, the meeting was told, received skill training this year through skill development centres run by Laghu Udyog Bharati in the micro-industry sector.

A special session examined the RSS’s ‘Panch Parivartan’ initiative in the context of its centenary year. Under ‘Kutumb Prabodhan’, discussions focused on strengthening family systems, values and cultural traditions.

Environmental conservation was also discussed, with emphasis on incorporating sustainable practices into everyday life. These included prudent use of water, reducing plastic consumption and increasing green cover.

The meeting further considered the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence on society. Mukund said participants examined both its potential benefits and associated risks, stressing the need to assess the technology from an Indian and social perspective.

The RSS also discussed the expansion of activities undertaken by 32 organisations inspired by the Sangh. Plans for the coming year focused on taking a nationalist and society-centric approach to more sections of society and expanding organisational activities.
