Yami Gautam Dhar is set to headline the fantasy family entertainer Nayyi Navelli, which is scheduled to hit theatres on October 16, 2026, during the Dussehra festive season.
The film is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Colour Yellow. The makers announced the release date on social media while sharing the first glimpse of the project, describing it as a fantasy family entertainer with the tagline “Bhabhi Daayan Hai”.
Directed by Balaji Mohan, Nayyi Navelli has been written by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma, with music composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar.
The film revolves around a seemingly perfect bride who transforms a chaotic household in Meerut into what appears to be paradise. However, her brother-in-law begins to suspect that his seemingly ideal sister-in-law may actually be a daayan (witch), setting the stage for a mix of fantasy, humour and adventure.
Producer Aanand L Rai said the story immediately appealed to him and Himanshu Sharma because of its unusual approach to bringing families together through fantasy, humour and adventure.
“Nayyi Navelli is the kind of story that surprises you at every turn,” Rai said, adding that Yami Gautam Dhar was an “instinctive choice” for the character because of the warmth and mischief she brings to the role.
Rai also described the film as the first collaboration between Colour Yellow and Amazon MGM Studios, saying the team was looking forward to taking audiences on an unpredictable cinematic journey.
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of SVOD Originals, Prime Video India and Amazon MGM Studios, praised Yami and the ensemble cast, while calling the project a significant first collaboration with Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma.
The film will arrive in cinemas on October 16, 2026.
