Hyundai Motor India Limited will increase vehicle prices by up to 1 per cent across its portfolio from September 2026, citing sustained increases in input and commodity costs, higher operating expenses and continuing geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainties.
In a stock exchange filing on Wednesday, the automaker said the extent of the increase would vary across models and variants.
The company said it had been working to absorb rising costs and optimise expenses to limit the impact on customers. However, continued cost pressures have prompted it to pass on part of the additional burden through the price revision.
The announcement comes a day after Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker, raised prices across its Arena and Nexa models from August 2026. Its latest increase ranges from ₹2,500 to ₹30,000, depending on the model and variant, and marks its second price revision of the year after a similar hike in June.
Hyundai’s decision also comes against the backdrop of pressure on its profitability. The company’s consolidated profit after tax (PAT) fell to ₹888.6 crore in the first quarter of financial year 2027, compared with ₹1,369.2 crore in the corresponding quarter a year earlier.
Revenue from operations declined marginally by 0.5 per cent year-on-year to ₹16,334.6 crore from ₹16,412.9 crore.
The company’s EBITDA dropped 31 per cent to ₹1,511 crore from ₹2,186 crore, while its EBITDA margin contracted to 9.3 per cent from 13.3 per cent in the year-ago period.
Hyundai said the September price revision would be implemented across its vehicle portfolio, with the exact increase determined by the model and variant.
