The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and 32 affiliated organisations began their three-day all-India coordination meeting at Gudilova near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, with demographic changes and drug abuse among youth among the key issues scheduled for discussion.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale inaugurated the meeting at Vignan Vihar School by paying floral tributes before a portrait of ‘Bharat Mata’.
The annual coordination meeting brings together senior RSS functionaries and representatives of organisations inspired by the Sangh to review their work over the past year, share experiences and discuss emerging challenges and developments across different sectors of society.
According to the RSS, the meeting is being attended by its senior leadership, all assistant general secretaries and other central office-bearers, along with national presidents, general secretaries and selected functionaries of 32 affiliated organisations.
Among the participating organisations are the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Vishva Hindu Parishad, Bharatiya Janata Party, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, Bharatiya Kisan Sangh and Rashtra Sevika Samiti.
A total of 327 representatives are participating in the three-day meeting, including 253 key functionaries from different organisations. The group includes 49 women.
The organisations are expected to present details of special initiatives undertaken during the year, their outcomes and the impact of various developments on public life. Discussions will also examine ways to strengthen coordination and pursue welfare-oriented initiatives collectively.
RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar said the organisations have been working in their respective fields on public welfare, social awareness, systemic improvement and addressing people’s concerns. He said they also study issues related to their sectors and engage with society and governments when required to find solutions.
The meeting will also deliberate on the prevailing situation in the country, social developments and contemporary issues.
Ambekar said demographic changes taking place in the country, concerns arising from them and possible measures to address these issues would be discussed.
The growing problem of drug abuse among youth will also receive attention, including its social impact, de-addiction measures and coordinated efforts by participating organisations to create awareness among young people.
The meeting is scheduled to continue for three days, with participating organisations sharing their experiences and exploring areas for greater coordination in the larger interest of society.
