Actress Gautami Kapoor made an emotional appearance on the reality show Lock Upp 2, where she visited her husband, actor Ram Kapoor, and addressed the controversy surrounding his on-screen conduct by apologising to the women contestants who said they felt uncomfortable.
During her interaction inside the house, Gautami spoke directly to contestant Shreya Kalra, who had earlier expressed displeasure over Ram Kapoor kissing her after a task victory. She apologised on his behalf, saying that if his actions or behaviour had made her uncomfortable in any way, she was genuinely sorry.
Expanding the apology to all the female contestants, Gautami said that if Ram had unintentionally made any woman in the house uncomfortable, she wished to apologise on his behalf. While clarifying that she was not defending his actions, she described him as someone who is naturally affectionate and compared him to a “teddy bear.”
Gautami also singled out contestant Shilpa Shinde for praise, describing her as one of the strongest performers on the show. She told Shilpa that she had played the game exceptionally well and remarked that the reality show was “running because of” her performance, applauding her contribution to the season.
Ram Kapoor and Gautami Kapoor first met on the sets of Ghar Ek Mandir in 2000 and married in 2003 after dating for two years. The couple has two children.
Hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, Lock Upp 2 is approaching its grand finale. The current contestants include Shilpa Shinde, Ram Kapoor, Shivangi Joshi, Harshad Chopra, Shreya Kalra, Pamala Serena, Akanksha Chamola, Akanksha Chaudhary, Yogesh Rawat, and Varun Yadav, among others.
The first season of Lock Upp, hosted by Kangana Ranaut in 2022, was won by Munawar Faruqui. The ongoing second season features 14 contestants competing over six weeks, completing tasks to earn in-game currency needed for essential supplies and privileges inside the lock-up.
