Shiv Sena (UBT) Alleges Education System Has Collapsed Amid Paper Leaks and Academic Scams

Mumbai, July 30, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Shiv Sena (UBT) on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the state and Central governments over the condition of the country’s education system, alleging that repeated examination paper leaks, corruption in educational institutions and irregular appointments have severely damaged public confidence in the sector.

In an editorial published in the party’s mouthpiece Saamana, the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray-led party claimed that the education system had reached a critical stage, with Maharashtra witnessing a series of examination-related controversies in recent months.

The editorial referred to multiple alleged paper leaks, including those involving competitive examinations and the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET), and asserted that such incidents had eroded the credibility of the state’s examination process. It also cited reports of viral audio and video recordings allegedly exposing malpractice in the CET system, including claims that candidates could secure exceptionally high scores through “special examination centres” for large sums of money.

The party further alleged that merit in higher education had been undermined by the appointment of politically connected and unqualified Vice-Chancellors. It also referred to an alleged financial irregularity involving the Vice-Chancellor of Parbhani Agricultural University and the arrest of BJP leader Sanjay Garud in connection with the alleged ₹160-crore Shalarth ID scam.

The editorial also criticised the Centre’s education policies, alleging that school history textbooks were being revised to reflect the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) while downplaying the contributions of the Congress, Left parties and Socialists to India’s freedom movement. It further claimed that ideological pressures were affecting scientific research and academic institutions.

Expressing concern over the growing inequality in access to education, the editorial said many middle-class families were forced to borrow money for coaching classes, while affluent candidates allegedly manipulated examination systems through leaked papers and other irregular means.

The party claimed that Pune, once regarded as an educational hub, was now increasingly associated with examination controversies and paper leaks. It also criticised the Maharashtra government for responding to such incidents by constituting special investigation teams instead of introducing structural reforms.

Concluding its editorial, Shiv Sena (UBT) urged authorities to take immediate corrective measures, warning that continued neglect would have long-term consequences for the country’s education system.
