Tej Pratap Yadav Under Medical Observation After Complaining of Chest Pain in Judicial Custody

Patna, July 27, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief Tej Pratap Yadav has been placed under medical observation after complaining of chest pain following his remand to judicial custody, even as his legal team moved a bail application citing his health condition.

According to his counsel, Advocate Nisha Singh, Yadav suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure, making his continued stay in jail a matter of concern.

“Considering his health condition, it is not safe to keep him in jail. We requested that he be placed under medical observation. He already suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure. A bail application has been filed before the SDJM having jurisdiction over the Gandhi Maidan police station area,” Singh said.

The lawyer also alleged procedural irregularities in Yadav’s arrest, claiming he was taken into custody before an FIR was registered.

“This is a case of gross negligence. He was arrested without an FIR being registered. After the arrest, he was shifted from Digha police station to Danapur and then to Naubatpur,” she alleged.

Refuting the allegations against her client, Singh maintained that Yadav had not instigated violence during the Bihar Bandh protests.

“How can he be accused of inciting a riot? He neither made any provocative statement nor incited anyone. He was simply passing by in his vehicle, stepped out after some youths requested him to do so, waved the national flag, and then left,” she said.

Police, however, said an FIR has been registered against Tej Pratap Yadav at the Gandhi Maidan Police Station in Patna under multiple sections of law, including charges of attempt to murder, rioting, obstructing public servants in the discharge of their duties and other offences linked to incidents of violence during the Bihar Bandh.

Following his arrest, Yadav was produced before the Judicial Magistrate’s court at Chhajjubagh from Naubatpur Police Station. The court remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody, after which he was lodged in Beur Central Jail.

His health is currently being monitored by doctors, while the bail application filed by his legal team is pending before the competent court.
