Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday praised Dharmendra Pradhan’s decision to resign as Union Education Minister, describing it as a reflection of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s commitment to placing national interest above positions of power.
In a post on X, Shah said BJP workers considered the nation, its youth and students more important than any office, and said Pradhan’s resignation embodied that principle.
He said the Narendra Modi-led government respected the sentiments of the country’s youth and remained committed to reforms aimed at preventing examination paper leaks. Shah also expressed confidence that the government’s decisions to ensure strict action against those responsible would deliver justice to students affected by the NEET examination controversy.
Highlighting Pradhan’s tenure, the Home Minister credited him with the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), expansion of PM SHRI schools, promotion of digital education, strengthening of skill development and improving industry-academia collaboration.
Shah also said Pradhan had worked to make examinations more inclusive and student-centric, adding that his tenure reflected his commitment to building a developed India.
Pradhan resigned amid nationwide protests over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and growing demands for accountability. His resignation has drawn mixed political reactions, with opposition parties describing it as a victory for student protests, while BJP leaders have projected it as an example of accountability and commitment to the national interest.
