Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday questioned Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his surprising failure to visit Prabhu Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya since the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony. Citing a verification of publicly available records, he asserted that although 891 days have passed since the consecration, Amit Shah has not visited the mandir for ‘darshan’ of Ram Lalla despite referring to Bhagwan Ram and the Ram Mandir more than 42 times in speeches and interviews, mostly while seeking votes.
The AAP Supremo posed five questions to the Union Home Minister, asking why he had not visited Shri Ram Mandir, whether he sought Bhagwan Ram’s blessings, and whether he believed Shri Ram to be Bhagwan. He further asserted that only the AAP is working with genuine devotion for Sanatan Dharma, citing the AAP-led Punjab government’s cultural initiatives for celebration of ‘Sanatan’ like ‘Bhajan Sandhyas,’ free ‘teerth yatras’ (pilgrimage), and also shared construction of a grand Lav-Kush and Mata Janaki Mandir in Amritsar.
Addressing a press conference, AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal stated, “The Pran Pratishtha ceremony at Prabhu Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya took place on 22 June 2024. Two and a half years have passed since then. To be precise, it has been 891 days. During these two and a half years, since the Shri Ram Mandir was inaugurated, the country’s ‘number two’ meaning the Home Minister, Amit Shah, has not visited the Shri Ram Mandir even once to bow before Bhagwan Shri Ram.”
Arvind Kejriwal continued, “When some people told me this a few days ago, I found it hard to believe that those who have misused Bhagwan Ram’s name the most had not even gone for ‘darshan’ after the mandir was built. I verified it through the internet, ChatGPT, Perplexity and by speaking to several journalists in Uttar Pradesh. Everywhere I found the same information: there is no record of Amit Shah visiting the Ram Mandir. Had he gone, there would certainly have been a photograph on his timeline.”
“During these 891 days, Amit Shah has referred to the Ram Mandir more than 42 times in his speeches and interviews, and on most occasions sought votes in the name of Prabhu Shri Ram and the Ram Mandir. He has time to seek votes in the name of Bhagwan Ram, but no time to visit and seek blessings at Bhagwan Shri Ram’s feet,” he revealed.
Raising a series of questions, the AAP Supremo stated, “Today, on behalf of the people of this country, I want to ask Amit Shah five important questions. First, why have you not visited the Ram Mandir yet? Second, do you not feel like having darshan of Bhagwan Ram? Third, do you not feel like visiting the Ram Mandir? Fourth, do you feel like you need the blessings of Bhagwan Ram? And fifth, the most important question: Do you believe Shri Ramchandra Ji is Bhagwan?”
Arvind Kejriwal asserted, “These people do not believe Bhagwan Shri Ramchandra Ji is Bhagwan. If they did, they would never do ‘chadhava-chori’ (steal offerings) and steal donations made before Bhagwan. They would fear that Bhagwan is omnipresent, that He is watching their ‘chanda-chori’, and that such an act would be a grave sin which would ruin their future and the lives to come.”
He continued, “But they have no such fear. They are committing theft openly. For decades, they have used the name of Bhagwan Ram only to come to power. Bhagwan Ram has given them everything. Bhagwan Ram enabled them to form governments in 21 states and at the Centre. Amit Shah could at least have gone to the Ram Mandir to thank Bhagwan and offered ‘prasad’ of ₹101. But he did not go because he does not need Bhagwan Ram’s blessings.”
Speaking about the ‘chanda-chori’, the AAP Chief added, “Today, every Sanatani is hurt and distressed by this ‘chanda-chori’. What has come to light so far is only a small glimpse. Much more is yet to emerge. When people learn that Amit Shah travels across the country seeking votes in the name of Prabhu Shri Ram but does not go for darshan, imagine what every Sanatani will feel. They have used Sanatan only for power and money.”
Highlighting his party’s initiatives, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Today, only the Aam Aadmi Party is working with genuine devotion for Sanatan. ‘Bhajan Sandhyas’ are being organised in every city of Punjab, with thousands of people participating. People are saying they have never seen anyone work for Sanatan in this manner before. Our government is facilitating free ‘teerth yatra’ (pilgrimage) to Khatu Shyam Ji, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Mathura Ji and Vrindavan Dham. When we were in government in Delhi, we also enabled people to visit Ayodhya Ji and several other ‘teerth sthals’ free of cost.”
Concluding, the AAP Supremo stated, “The Kali Mai Mandir in Patiala is being restored, and a grand Lav-Kush Mandir will also be built. In keeping with the ideals of Sanatan, good schools, hospitals and Aam Aadmi Clinics are being built for the downtrodden on a large scale. People’s money is being carefully utilised to provide free and better electricity supply, roads and corruption-free governance. If there is one truly Sanatani party in the country today, it is the Aam Aadmi Party. I would request Amit Shah to please visit Ayodhya Ji after today for darshan of Bhagwan Ram.”
