Megastar Amitabh Bachchan recently shared an amusing detail about son and actor Abhishek Bachchan while reflecting on their close bond during an episode of the quiz reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.
Responding to a contestant’s comment about his relationship with Abhishek, Amitabh described his son as a friend and revealed that the actor has an unusual food habit — he does not eat fruits.
“Arey sir, hum toh unko apna mitra maante hain. Aur bhaisahab yeh badi vichitra ek aadat hai unki, woh phal nahi khate hain. Yeh ek alag baat hai, kyunki hum sab log phal-val khate hain. Haan, agar dudh ka koi pakwaan ho toh, thoda sa jhijak hoti hain usko lene ke liye, lekin phal jo hai, woh khayenge hi nahi.”
Amitabh then turned the conversation towards a more emotional subject, recalling a poem by his late father and renowned poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan that reflected on the relationship between a father and son and the meaning of true inheritance.
“Mere bete, bete hone se mere uttaradhikari nahi honge. Jo mere uttaradhikari honge, woh mere bete honge.”
The lines convey the idea that being a son alone does not make someone a true heir; rather, those who prove worthy of carrying forward a father’s legacy become his true heirs.
Abhishek has completed 25 years in the film industry and has earned recognition for performances in films including ‘Zameen’, ‘Bluffmaster’ and ‘Guru’, among others.
He is married to actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and the couple have a daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan.
