Pellet-Gun Injury Claim: Sahil Lochav Says Vision Remains Unclear After AIIMS Surgery, Alleges FIR Not Registered

New Delhi, August 21, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Sahil Lochav, who has alleged that he sustained pellet-gun injuries during a protest at Jantar Mantar last month, said on Friday that his vision remained unclear despite undergoing surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He also alleged that police had not registered an FIR on his complaint.

The issue has drawn political attention, with Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi continuing his sit-in outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police at Delhi’s Parliament Street Police Station over the alleged refusal to register the case. Congress MPs Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Kumari Selja also joined Gandhi during the protest.

The Congress has alleged that Lochav was injured by pellet-gun firing during demonstrations seeking education reforms at Jantar Mantar.

Lochav said the alleged incident took place on July 20. He said he was initially admitted to Lady Hardinge Hospital before being referred to AIIMS, where he underwent surgery.

“On July 20, pellet guns were fired at me. I was admitted to Lady Hardinge, and from there, I was referred to AIIMS. I underwent surgery at AIIMS, but the vision in my eye is still not clear,” he said.

Lochav said he submitted a seven-page complaint through his lawyer on August 14 but claimed that no FIR had been registered.

His lawyer alleged that they were repeatedly directed between Connaught Place Police Station and Parliament Street Police Station while attempting to submit the complaint.

According to the lawyer, Connaught Place Police initially said Jantar Mantar-related cases had been transferred to Parliament Street Police Station, while officials there allegedly said the incident fell within Connaught Place’s jurisdiction.

The lawyer further alleged that the complaint was returned after being read and that they were made to wait for a considerable period. She claimed that the SHO told her over the phone that the police would not take up the case and that “orders from above” had been received.

She said they subsequently approached the DCP Crime Branch but were informed that complaints could not be submitted directly there.

The lawyer also claimed that the complaint was stamped after Rahul Gandhi reached Parliament Street Police Station, but an FIR had still not been registered.

Referring to the medical record, she said the medico-legal case (MLC) report from Lady Hardinge Hospital mentioned punctured wounds and bleeding.
