The State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB), Rohtak, on Friday arrested a lineman of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹8,000 for installing an electricity meter connection.
The accused has been identified as Ravinder, 42, a lineman posted with UHBVN at Lakhan Majra.
According to the SV&ACB, a complainant approached the bureau alleging that Ravinder had demanded ₹10,000 in illegal gratification for installing an electricity meter connection at his residence.
Acting on the complaint, the vigilance team laid a trap and caught the accused while allegedly accepting ₹8,000 from the complainant.
During the investigation, it also came to light that the accused had allegedly accepted another ₹20,000 from the complainant earlier, the bureau said.
The accused was taken into custody and further questioning and legal proceedings are underway.
The SV&ACB has registered FIR No. 26 dated August 21, 2026, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act at the SV&ACB police station in Rohtak.
The arrest is part of the bureau’s ongoing campaign against corruption and illegal gratification by public servants.
