Sanjeev Arora, the newly inducted Cabinet Minister in the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government, has been entrusted with significant responsibilities as part of the latest Cabinet reshuffle. Arora, who recently won the Ludhiana West by-election, will now oversee three critical departments: Industry & Commerce, Investment Promotion, and NRI Affairs.
This strategic allocation marks Arora’s formal entry into the administrative landscape of Punjab and signals the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) intent to strengthen its governance credentials, particularly in sectors vital for economic growth and global outreach.
While earlier speculation hinted that Arora might also receive the Housing and Urban Development portfolio, the final decision saw him entrusted solely with the departments as mentioned above.
Notably, the Department of NRI Affairs was previously held by senior AAP leader Kuldip Singh Dhaliwal, who has now been relieved of his Cabinet role. With his only remaining portfolio withdrawn, Dhaliwal, who was left without any departmental charge, submitted his resignation.
Arora’s appointment to these vital departments reflects both his professional background and the party’s focus on attracting investment and engaging the Punjabi diaspora. His new role is expected to drive policy initiatives aimed at boosting industry and fostering stronger NRI ties for Punjab’s socio-economic development.
