Ram Darbar Pass System Scrapped at Ayodhya Ram Temple, Devotees Can Now Visit Without Special Permit

Ayodhya, August 5, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has abolished the special pass system for visiting the Ram Darbar at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, allowing devotees to access the shrine without obtaining a separate permit.

Under the revised arrangement, devotees who complete the regular darshan of Ram Lalla through the general queue can now directly proceed to the Ram Darbar on the temple’s first floor. The move is aimed at making the pilgrimage smoother and more convenient for visitors.

Earlier, access to the Ram Darbar was regulated through a limited number of special passes issued each day. With the new system now in place, the pass requirement has been completely withdrawn.

The temple trust said the decision was taken to simplify the darshan process and ensure easier access for the growing number of devotees visiting the temple.

Meanwhile, investigations into the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Temple continue under the supervision of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Kiran S, following directions from the Uttar Pradesh government.

During a hearing on July 27, the Supreme Court was informed about the appointment of the senior IPS officer to lead the investigation. Chief Justice of India Surya Kant directed the authorities to appoint a chartered accountant to assist the SIT and submit a status report within two weeks.

The Bench, also comprising Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana, had earlier advised the Uttar Pradesh government to reconstitute the SIT and place the investigation under the leadership of a senior police officer.

The alleged misappropriation of temple donations came to light in early June. The Uttar Pradesh government constituted the SIT on June 13, followed by the registration of an FIR on June 25 after the submission of a preliminary investigation report. Eight individuals have since been arrested in connection with the case.

Last month, Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, resigned on moral grounds. He later alleged negligence by the State Bank of India’s Ayodhya branch, claiming security protocols were not followed and calling for accountability over the alleged lapses in the temple’s chest room.
