CJP Insists on Education Minister’s Resignation Ahead of Third Round of Talks with Centre

New Delhi, July 25, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Saturday reiterated that the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan remains its primary demand, asserting that further talks with the Centre would serve little purpose if the government was unwilling to act on the issue.

The statement came ahead of the third round of discussions between the CJP and the Central government over the ongoing controversy surrounding paper leaks and examination irregularities.

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said the second round of talks held on Friday had yielded a positive response on issues related to compensation and legal cases, with the government reportedly giving an in-principle agreement. He expressed hope that these assurances would be put in writing during Saturday’s meeting.

However, Ranka maintained that the key issue remained unresolved.

“There has still been no concrete decision on our main demand — the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. If he is not going to resign, then what is the point of holding such meetings?” he said, adding that the party would decide its future course of action if the demand was rejected.

Responding to the government’s decision to replace the Education Secretary and remove 47 officials of the National Testing Agency (NTA), Ranka said the measures were insufficient, arguing that ultimate accountability rested with the Union Education Minister.

Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet has approved a draft Bill proposing stricter penalties for paper leaks by amending the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. The proposed changes include imprisonment of up to 10 years and fines of up to Rs 10 crore for organised paper leak cases.
