Family Alleges Murder After Woman, Two Daughters Found Dead in Bihar’s Nawada

Patna, August 18, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

A day after a woman and her two minor daughters were found dead under suspicious circumstances at their home in Bihar’s Nawada district, the deceased woman’s family has alleged murder and demanded a thorough investigation.

The family has submitted a written complaint at Bundelkhand police station against unknown persons, while also expressing suspicion that the woman’s in-laws could be involved.

SHO Dharmraj Kumar confirmed that the allegations had been received and said police were investigating the matter.

The deceased have been identified as Nida Khatoon, 30, and her daughters Sariya Khatoon, 3, and Sitara Khatoon, 4. The three were found dead on Monday morning at their residence in the Darji locality under Bundelkhand police station limits.

According to police, Nida was found hanging in a room on the upper floor, while her two daughters were found dead on their respective beds. Nida’s in-laws live on the floor below.

The family reportedly became suspicious after the house remained closed for an extended period and subsequently entered the premises.

Police are investigating both homicide and suicide angles. Investigators have also noted circumstances at the scene that have raised questions over whether Nida was killed before her body was allegedly hanged. Some parts of her body were reportedly found touching the bed, prompting suspicion that she may have been killed and her body subsequently suspended.

The deaths of the two children have also raised questions, although their exact causes have not yet been established.

Nida’s husband, Mohammad Sajid, has reportedly been working in Dubai for around 11 months and has been informed about the incident.

Police have collected evidence from the scene and questioned family members and local residents. A Forensic Science Laboratory team has also examined the spot and collected evidence.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examinations, with police awaiting the reports to establish the precise causes and circumstances of the deaths.

SHO Dharmraj Kumar said all aspects of the case were being investigated and that further action would be taken based on the evidence and post-mortem findings.
