Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan recently revealed that actor Saif Ali Khan is related to his family during an episode of the popular quiz show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.
Saif appeared on the latest episode of the show with his ‘Haiwaan’ co-star Akshay Kumar when Amitabh pointed out that the two families share a connection.
“Sir, many people don’t know that he is in our relation,” Amitabh told Saif.
When Saif reacted with surprise and asked, “Me?”, Amitabh explained the family connection, saying, “Raj Kapoor’s daughter, Ritu’s son Nikhil is married to my daughter Shweta.”
Amitabh then jokingly raised a question about how he and Saif’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor, should address each other.
“So now I want to know how should I address Kareena? Kareena will call me what?” he asked.
Saif responded in his characteristic humorous style, saying, “Thank God that’s not a question,” leaving the audience and those on stage laughing.
Amitabh’s daughter Shweta Bachchan is married to Nikhil Nanda, who is Kareena Kapoor’s first cousin. Nikhil is the son of Ritu Nanda, daughter of legendary actor Raj Kapoor.
Shweta and Nikhil married in 1997 and have two children, daughter Navya Naveli Nanda and son Agastya Nanda.
Amitabh and Saif have also shared screen space professionally in films including ‘Eklavya: The Royal Guard’ (2007) and ‘Aarakshan’ (2011).
Meanwhile, Saif and Akshay are gearing up for the release of their upcoming crime thriller ‘Haiwaan’, directed by Priyadarshan. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on September 11.
‘Haiwaan’ is a remake of the 2016 Malayalam film ‘Oppam’. Backed by KVN Productions and Thespian Films, the film also stars Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Saiyami Kher in key roles.
