Actress Sonalika Joshi, widely known for playing Madhavi Bhide in the long-running sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, recently gave fans a glimpse of her memorable New York visit, posing in a traditional purple saree against the Manhattan skyline.
In pictures shared on social media, Sonalika is seen wearing an elegant purple silk saree with intricate golden floral detailing. She completed the traditional ensemble with jewellery and a bindi, while her hair was styled in soft waves.
The actress posed high above New York with the iconic Empire State Building and the Manhattan skyline forming the backdrop. Sharing the photographs, she wrote, “Six yards of pure Grace at Empire state proud moment.”
The pictures came during a special New York visit by the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah cast and makers, who travelled to the US to participate in the Federation of Indian Associations’ (FIA) 44th India Day celebrations.
The event marked India’s 80th Independence Day and was held under the theme “Harmony in Heritage”. The annual India Day Parade was held along Madison Avenue in Manhattan on August 16, with members of the sitcom’s team participating in the celebrations.
Producer Asit Kumarr Modi was joined by actors including Dilip Joshi, Mandar Chandwadkar, Munmun Dutta, Sonalika Joshi, Balwinder Singh Suri and Nitish Bhaluni. The team waved to spectators and interacted with members of the Indian diaspora during the parade.
On the professional front, Sonalika has been associated with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah since its launch in 2008. She has played Madhavi Bhide, wife of Atmaram Tukaram Bhide, since the show’s first episode.
The sitcom completed 18 years in July 2026, making Sonalika one of its longest-serving cast members.
