Music composer Amaal Mallik has deleted a series of posts from his social media timeline while clarifying that he is not withdrawing his remarks made during his recent public criticism of fellow composer Tanishk Bagchi.
Amaal took to X on Sunday and said he removed the posts only to clear his timeline after sharing his perspective, adding that he continues to stand by his statements. In his post, he made indirect references to Bagchi without naming him.
The composer said he wanted to avoid speculation that deleting the posts meant he was retracting his comments, stating that he had archived them and remained firm on his views.
Amaal also claimed that he had maintained restraint for nearly a decade before speaking out, saying he decided to address issues he felt needed to be highlighted within the music industry.
“I had to stand up and take everything head on because no one wants to stand up for the right thing or call out the wrong,” he wrote, adding that he had remained silent for a long time.
The latest remarks come after Amaal had earlier made indirect allegations against Bagchi, criticising certain practices in the music industry. He said his comments were driven by a desire to speak about what he described as unfair conduct.
Amaal further warned that he would continue to raise his voice if he felt similar issues occurred in the future.
The two composers have previously been involved in discussions around the functioning of the Hindi film music industry, though Bagchi has not been directly named in Amaal’s latest posts.
